ECSD Leadership Collaborates to Plan Literacy Strategies

ECSD recently hosted David Holden, CEO of American Alliance for Innovative Systems (AAIS), to lead the district’s administrators and instructional coaches in developing the district’s ELA support document. “We know that increasing our student’s reading levels will have the greatest impact on their learning and their performances on assessments. We are developing a common language around literacy and Lexiles that will help our teachers raise our students reading and comprehension level,” explained Josh Black, Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Vision Grant Recipients Are Celebrated

 Recipients of this years’ Foundation for Public Schools in Edgefield County (FPSEC) Vision Grants and the Foundations’ donors and board members celebrated before the October 8, 2019 school board meeting. “The teachers who receive these grants are instructional leaders who are striving to be innovative. They offer their students an enriched experience and the foundation is providing them the resources they need to do so,” stated Dr. Kevin O’Gorman, superintendent, Edgefield County Schools.
