SC DHEC (Department of Health and Environmental Control) provided Edgefield County School District with information (see below) regarding the best practices for prevention of the spread of germs and detailed information about the Coronavirus.  However, DHEC has advised that, “If a child or staff member is ill and did not travel to China or have known contact with a COVID-19 case, it is highly unlikely that he or she is at risk for COVID-19.”  ECSD continues to use preventative practices for the spread of germs such as encouraging students and staff to wash their hands on a regular basis, to cover their mouths when coughing, encouraging everyone who is sick to stay home, etc.

Edgefield County Schools will provide information on its website, its Facebook page, and through the district’s automated call system as needed regarding any new information regarding the Coronavirus.  Edgefield County School District will remain diligent in following DHEC guidelines and/or other appropriate governmental agencies regarding the spread of illness such as the Flu and the Coronavirus.
